The published target is within eight weeks for a standard application. Fast Track provides an outcome within two weeks once all required information is received, but it does not guarantee approval or speed up the later highway licence.
Do I need planning permission?
Not every property requires planning permission. It may be needed for classified roads, impermeable hardstanding, listed buildings, conservation areas, flats, commercial access or where permitted-development rights have been removed. Your local planning authority decides the requirement.
What is the Section 171 licence?
After vehicle-crossing approval, the contractor must obtain a site-specific Section 171 road-opening licence before work begins. Hampshire County Council currently charges £454, and processing may take up to 28 days.
